A few months ago, my car's windshield cracked, right in the middle, from one end to the other. I was so annoyed because I couldn't look straight through. I would look above the crack, below the crack, but it wouldn't work. Everyday, I reminded myself that I needed to get it fixed. Days, weeks, months passed and the crack remains there. Not only do I see through it, but my eyes have gotten adjusted. It has become my "norm".
It made me think about how many of us are living and doing things that began as a problem/disfunction, but because we've conformed to it, we now deem it as normal? If it hits home, how do we find our way back?
Do an inventory of your life - Take some time to look at your life, your thoughts, is there anything that requires fixing or removing? If so, write out a simple plan on how you are going to change it. Remember, you don't have to do it all at once, you can take baby steps. Just make sure you are consistent with it.
Take one step at a time - Now that you have you plan, execute one thing at a time. The key here is to be consistent, so that it can have a long lasting effect.
Seek help - Sometimes the issues are too much to bear alone. Seek the help of others. We are born into this world to be a community of people. If you can't do it alone, don't try it, ask for help.
